What is a Doula?

A Doula is a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period (Doulas of North America, or DONA, 2011)

• I have completed 17 hours of detailed and in depth Doula training by two Doula instructors Certified through DONA
• I have attended 2 Doula-taught Child Birth courses, both as an expectant mother and as a Doula
• I have attended a 3-hour Breast Feeding course, taught by a Lactation Consultant.
• I have completed all requirements for certification as a Birth Doula and have been approved by DONA.
• I have attended over 20 births since Jan. 2011
• I have experience teaching child birth classes both for individuals and in a larger class setting for Public Health
• I have worked along side both Midwives and OB’s in the delivery room – at home (with a Midwife) or in the hospital (with a Midwife or other care provider)

I am a stay-at-home-mom of boy/girl twins born March 2005 and a son born in April 2010. I have personal experience with hyperemisis, multiple gestation, preterm labour, breastfeeding multiples, c-section, natural birth and successful vbac (vaginal birth after cesarean).

My husband and I both volunteer for Beginnings Family Services in Woodstock, Ontario and have over 20 years combined experience volunteering in both church and community groups – working with families and individuals from all walks of life.

I am dedicated to offering emotional, physical and informational support to women throughout their pregnancy, labor and childbirth. I will assist you and your partner as you plan for this exciting time – helping you to achieve YOUR goals and experience the birth YOU desire. Whether it is at home or in a hospital, I will be there for you! I offer low rates for single mothers or teens, and will take into consideration all personal financial situations – never let finances stop you from having personal Doula support! I will not turn you away due to your financial situation.

I am currently serving clients in Oxford County and surrounding areas. I will travel to London, Stratford, Cambridge, KW, Norwich, Tillsonburg, Ingersoll  and most places in between! Contact me today to set up a consultation/interview!
